The holiday season is here and with it comes countless holiday traditions and events! From holiday lights to performances there is no shortage of seasonal festivities in Mahoning County. Here are some of the best holiday events in the area to check out in the next couple of weeks!
10th Annual Memories of Christmas Past
Tuesdays-Sundays through January 7, 12pm-4pm, Thursdays until 7pm, (closed Christmas Eve)
Arms Family Museum – This Youngstown family tradition delights generations young and old, with breath-taking vignettes featuring vintage Christmas decor from the 1800s through the 1960s. Prepare to revisit the best memories from your childhood. Exquisitely arranged in detailed, eye-catching, colorful vignettes, the vintage decor on display includes toys, trains, ornaments, lights, dolls, furniture, trees, and more. For the 10th anniversary of Memories of Christmas Past, the museum’s holiday exhibit designer Anthony Worrellia brought back a “best of” the past nine years.
Winter Celebration: Toyland
Tuesdays-Sundays through December 31, 10am-5pm
Fellows Riverside Gardens – Bring the family to “come play!” as you discover Toyland in the Davis Center. Show your kids favorite games and toys from your past as you wander amongst giant game pieces, ten-foot toy soldiers, and more. Plus, enjoy the annual holiday tree walk, scavenger hunt, and of course, the seasonal blooms. During Saturdays in December, Winter Celebration is open late until 7 pm to experience the outdoor light display.
Let It Snow – Ward Beecher Planetarium
Fridays, December 15 & 22, 8pm, and Saturdays, December 16 & 23, 2pm & 8pm
Ward Beecher Planetarium – A NEW holiday music show celebrating the winter season. Artistic impressions of popular winter holiday music come to life on the dome transporting the entire family to a magical wonderland of music and light. Experience bells and reindeer, presents and cookies, snow and nutcrackers in colorful spectacles of fun!
The Glenn Miller Orchestra
Thursday, December 21, 7:30pm

Joy of Christmas Holiday Light Show
Open Every Night through December 26, 6pm-9pm
Firestone Park (nearby Columbiana) – Enjoy this drive-through holiday light display with the entire family. View one million holiday lights in 75 animated light scenes, stroll through the Gingerbread House and view hundreds of homemade gingerbread house displays. Stop by Santa’s Ice Castle for Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and food, live holiday music, crafts, face-painting, and Pictures with Santa! NEW for 2017: Music in the Air, and Dancing Lighted Christmas Trees on Mirror Lake! $10 donation per vehicle requested at admission.
First Night Youngstown
