One of the largest and finest farm markets in Ohio is located in the heart of Mahoning County – more specifically, Canfield Township – and people travel far and wide to experience all that it has to offer. Rivaling the best grocery stores, farmers markets and destinations throughout Ohio, White House Fruit Farm is a fan favorite for unique items, picking your own in-season fruits and flowers and shopping farm fresh produce, deli meats, jams, honey, homemade fudge and delicious baked goods.
The blueberry donuts are a must-try for visitors and are known to fly off the shelves (or display cases, to be specific), but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have other great flavors like glazed, strawberry, chocolate frosted and seasonal favorites (just to name a few). In fact, White House Fruit Farm’s entire bakery is second to none, and their fresh-baked pies rival the popularity of the most beloved treats!
Want to make sure an item doesn’t run out before you get there? Give them a call to schedule pick up for any baked goods, which guarantees that you get exactly what you want!
Their deli is also extremely popular, with more than 80 types of delicious meats and cheeses, and even some specialties made regionally and throughout Ohio.
A Family Affair for Over 200 Years
Since 1815, the Hull Family has farmed the 200 acres of land that are known today as White House Fruit Farm. Open year-round since 1978 as a retail farm market, White House Fruit Farm is operated by the second, third and fourth generations of the Hull family.
Produce, Baked Goods and Specialty Foods
In addition to many other items, White House is known for its fresh produce and delicious apple products. Freshly made apple cider is stocked year-round (be sure to try an apple cider slushie in the summer months). And, a seasonal favorite that’s always in high demand is Gold Rush Apple Cider, only available for two short windows during the year: the week before Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas.
When in season, you can pick their local produce like apples, strawberries and blueberries. Other favorites grown at White House Fruit Farm include 20+ varieties of apples, peaches, rhubarb, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, asparagus, sweet corn, tomatoes, onions and pumpkins.
Looking for some unique, tasty foods? You’ll find White House’s own frozen meats, sauces, jams, hot pepper relish, apple butter, syrup, ketchup and coffee. Add to that list many regionally made items, and you’ll be sure to find something unique in every corner.
Even on the busiest days, guests are greeted with a smile, and after checkout, can enjoy the Farm’s peaceful lake, play areas and country views. Cash, credit cards and debit cards are all accepted.
Things to Do at the Farm
No matter the time of year, White House’s calendar is jam-packed with things to do, and it is truly a destination for every age!
Year-Round Family Fun
Picnic tables are placed throughout the Farm’s scenic lawn which features a pond and fountain. If you’re visiting with children who need to burn off some extra energy, the grounds are also home to multiple play areas.
In addition to the regular outdoor activities, White House Fruit Farm also plays host to a variety of unique events: musical entertainment, opportunities for making blueberry jam, family events, pictures in the sunflower fields and crafting opportunities.
Seasonal Events
From September to October, you can visit White House’s Fall Harvest Weekends. Enjoy autumn with apple cider, pony rides, a children’s petting zoo, food vendors, horse-drawn carriage rides and musical entertainment! The Budgie Barn is fun for kids of all ages – they get the up-close experience of feeding the colorful parakeets! The Fall Gift Barn is stocked from front to back with decor, gifts and apparel. And, if you’re looking for the perfect pumpkin, their Pumpkin Pavilion has everything you need to decorate the outside of your home for fall celebrations! These areas are open to the public starting the weekend after Labor Day through the end of October.
Christmastime is no exception when it comes to getting into the seasonal spirit. Santa and his reindeer make appearances at Christmas on the Farm, which happens one weekend a year in December. You can catch a horse-drawn trolley ride, enjoy a private sleigh ride, listen to live music, roast hot dogs and s’mores over a fire and shop the Winter Gift Barn.
