Yes She Can: Women and the Steel Industry

In recognition of Women’s History Month, join a panel of speakers to explore women’s relationships to industrial and mill work from a historic perspective. Panelists will discuss women’s roles from their initial support of male workers, to their lives as the spouses of mill workers, and finally as women working in the mills. Presenting speakers include: Jacqueline Marino, Author and Associate Professor of Journalism at Kent State University; Eliese Colette Goldbach, noted author and former steel mill worker; Mary E. Triece, Author and Professor in the School of Communication at The University of Akron; and Jennifer Vanderpool, renowned artist whose multi-venue exhibition “Untold Stories: The Forgotten Underclass in Rust Belt Urban Renewal” is on display at The Tyler History Center and The University of Akron.
The presentation will be Tuesday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Tyler History Center, 325 West Federal Street in Downtown Youngstown. The event is free and open to the public.
