Welcoming Spring – Youngstown Symphony Orchestra – CANCELED
Saturday, March 21, 2020 @ 8:00 pm
This event has been canceled.
The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra presents its final concert of the Platinum Classical Series of the 2019-2020 season. The orchestra welcomes spring with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, Op. 56 in A Minor. Also known as the Scottish Symphony, the music conjures up not only melodic rhythms with a Scottish personality, but also pictures of the countryside inspired by the composer’s first visit to the country. Also on the program will be Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 in G Major, better known as the Surprise Symphony. Be prepared: the “surprise” comes in the second movement where after a quiet and gentle theme for strings, a loud cord for full orchestra erupts suddenly and unexpectedly.
