The Neighborhood and Penguin City Brewing are teaming up to host Mahoning Valley’s first Swap-A-Palooza on Saturday, April 6 from 3:00pm-9:00pm in the brewery’s Pollock Room. Free to enter and open to the public, there will be something for all clothing lovers, with an all-inclusive swap, vintage and upcycled vendors, and educational tables teaching mending, embroidery, and natural dyeing.
Did you know that in America we throw away 11.3 million tons (equivalent to 900,000 school buses!) of clothing a year? That’s why the Swap-A-Palooza will be broken up into 3 sections – Swapping, Shopping, and Education – putting a focus on re-wear, re-use, and circularity.
There will be swap sections for clothing, shoes, and books; open to all genders, sizes, and ages. If you are bringing items to swap, item drop-off will be from 12:00pm-2:30pm on April 6, the day of the event, in the Penguin City Taproom. If you are unable to drop off items day-off,
contact Alison Green at [email protected]. All left over clothing items will be donated to the Warren Family Mission.
There will be vintage and upcycled sellers selling their one of a kind finds and makes. Price and style will range from seller to seller.
Keeping clothing in circulation, and wearing what we already have, is the most sustainable thing we can do! They will be having educational tables teaching attendees how to mend, embroider, and naturally dye their own clothing or textiles.
