Summer Exhibitions – McDonough Museum of Art

Saturday, June 8, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Summer Exhibitions

The John J. McDonough Museum of Art, on the campus of Youngstown State University, opens the summer with Centennial Impressions: A Celebration of Prints highlighting masterworks of modern and contemporary printmaking from the Butler Institute of American Art permanent collection. This exhibition, along with Studio Conversations in Art Education is one of two exciting shows that will be on display in the galleries June 8-July 20. An opening reception for both exhibitions will take place on Saturday, June 8 from 5-7pm.

The McDonough Museum is honored to collaborate with and help celebrate the Butler Institute of American Art’s 100th Anniversary. The prints selected from the Butler collection have been produced by world famous artists from Romare Bearden and Robert Rauschenburg to Andy Warhol and Lynda Benglis. The work demonstrates an exploration of varied techniques and wide-ranging approaches found within contemporary art. It is an exciting opportunity to see well-known artists working in a multitude printmaking techniques including woodcut, etching, lithography and silkscreen. One of the great benefits of printmaking is that multiple impressions of the same design can be printed from a single source however each print produced is considered an original as each differs because of variables intrinsic to the printmaking process.

Hours at the McDonough Museum of Art are Tuesday through Saturday, 11am until 4pm. The Museum is open to the public and admission is free. For additional information please call 330-941-1400.
