Youngstown State University’s Department of Theatre & Dance announces a Valentine’s Day Cabaret, A Kiss To Build a Dream On, coordinated by Dr. Maria Fenty Denison, on Friday, February 14 at the B & O Station Banquet Center, 530 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown, OH 44502.
Options for the evening include the cabaret performance only or a dinner/cabaret choice. The dinner begins at 6:00pm, while the performance begins at 7:00pm.
Performance only ticket prices are adult general admission, $25; students (high school, other university students and YSU students), $10. Dinner and cabaret ticket prices are individual, $40; couple, $75; YSU students, $30. Tickets are only available at ysu.edu/springcabaret. Performance only tickets will be available the night of the show. The deadline for ordering dinner tickets is Thursday, February 6.
Dr. Stephanie Smith, Interim Chair of Theatre & Dance, said, “We encourage everyone to do something special this Valentine’s Day. A Kiss to Build a Dream On features jazz favorites drawn from the American Song Book, highlighting iconic tunes and dazzling voices from the Musical Theatre program. Make it an evening with the special gourmet dinner option, prepared by the experts at the B&O. A cash bar and a Youngstown cookie table will make Valentine’s Day one of a kind.”
Dinner selections include chicken Marsala and mashed potatoes; bourbon glazed salmon served over rice pilaf with grilled vegetables or vegan steakhouse mushroom tacos served with jasmine rice, avocado and a black bean & corn relish. All meals will include appetizer, garden salad and dessert.
Nearly 30 students will perform romantic selections from a wide repertoire including music from Bernstein, Gershwin, Bruno Mars, Tony Bennett, Etta James, and the Dixie Chicks, among others.
“This one-night-only event is not-to-be-missed,” said Smith.
