The Healthy Community Partnership’s Active Transportation team invites the community to join them for their next Safer Streets Series demonstration at the Youngstown Flea on July 13 for a day of exploring how we can make our roads better for all modes of transportation!
The Safer Streets Series shows how the street could be adapted to improve safety for those walking, taking the bus, bicycling and driving. The Federal Demonstration will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Youngstown Flea on July 13. The demonstration area will include one block each of E. Federal and Boardman streets between Commerce street and Andrews avenue. Visitors will be able to experience and provide feedback on safe street improvements developed by the active transportation team, which will include temporary changes such as a road diet, greenery, a bike lane, and a creative crosswalk. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to travel to the Safe Street on Federal by bike, by bus, or on foot to get the most immersive experience. Visitors can also enjoy the Flea, relaxation space, and much more during the event.
Helping to organize the Safer Street demonstration are HCP, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, Youngstown CityScape and the YSU GuinFit program.
