The Cliffe College Performing Arts Series is pleased to announce that Imani Winds, a 2024 GRAMMY® Award winning-wind quintet, will join the series to conclude its inaugural 2024-25 season.
This revolutionary group will visit YSU’s Ford Theater, located in Bliss Hall, Friday, April 4, at 7:00pm to showcase its musical expertise. For over 25 years, the four-time GRAMMY® nominated group has led an evolution in music with its dynamic playing, adventurous programming, and unique collaborations that have inspired audiences both near and far.
As the group embraces traditional chamber repertoire, its inclusion of newly commissioned works reflects on the throws of modern society. Well-known for its incredible talent as a quintet, the group has also made a wide impact with its numerous projects, residencies, and educational endeavors.
Imani Winds performs regularly at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center, and the group holds workshops and masterclasses for thousands of students each year. The quintet also holds the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival each summer to teach musical excellence and career development to pre-professional instrumentalists and composers.
Imani Winds’ eleventh studio album, BeLonging, was released in June 2024 and was nominated for a 2025 GRAMMY® Award.
As the inaugural Cliffe College Performing Arts Series season comes to a close, Imani Winds’ performance promises to be inspiring and extraordinary. Whether you are a lover of music or are looking for something new, this quintet offers talent for everyone to enjoy!
