Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series presents fiction writer Lynda Montgomery & fiction and playwriter Toni Thayer, both of Cleveland, on Wednesday, October 5, at 7:00pm at the Soap Gallery. The reading, free and open to the public, will be co-hosted by Terry Shears. An open mic will follow the featured readers.
Lynda Montgomery’s stories appear in december, Another Chicago Magazine and Driftwood and have been nominated for national awards. She was awarded residencies at Ragdale and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and an Individual Excellence Award from Ohio Arts Council. She works as a family doctor and lives with her family in Shaker Heights.
Toni Thayer has received two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards: in 2020 for fiction and in 2016 for playwriting. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Goddard College and an MA in English from Cleveland State. She has taught at Cleveland State, Hathaway Brown School, and Lit Cleveland.
The November First Wednesday reading will feature poetry and prose writer Kelly Hambly of Kent and poet Jimmy Sutman of Youngstown. Lit Youngstown is a literary arts nonprofit for writers, readers, storytellers, and those who love a good story. More information is at www.LitYoungstown.org.
