First Night Youngstown 2020 offers a family-friendly way to ring in the new year in Downtown Youngstown. The opening ceremony will be held at 20 Federal Plaza in Downtown Youngstown on December 31, 2019 at 4:30pm. Activities will be spread across the downtown area with buses running to take you from venue to venue. Events include everything from ice skating at the Covelli Centre to the horse and carriage rides on Market Street.
An official 2020 Wristband gets you in to every event, wristbands are $10 for adults and $7 for students, veterans and senior citizens. Children 12 and under are free. Children must be accompanied by a paid adult. Wristbands are available for purchase at any verified First Night Youngstown venue on New Year’s Eve. Street Closures/Parking Bands
In preparation of this amazing event, the Market Street Bridge will be closed completely from 10:45am December 31, 2019 until 1:00am January 1, 2020. It will be closed to prepare for the fireworks display. There will be two sets of fireworks, one at 9:00pm and the other at midnight.
There will be a parking band December 31, 2019 from 4:00pm until 1:00am January 1, 2020 on East Federal Street between Market Street and Champion Street.
Downtown Central Square will be closed from Wick Ave to Champion Street and Commerce Street to Boardman Street to all vehicular traffic starting at 4:30pm December 31, 2019 until 1:00am January 1, 2020 except for one lane off of Commerce Street for luggage drop off at the DoubleTree Hotel.
In preparation of the Horse and Carriage rides, Market Street will be closed between Federal Street and Front Street. Front Street will be closed between Market Street and Champion Street. Champion Street will be closed between Front Street and Federal Street. These closures will take effect at 4:30pm December 31, 2019 until 1am January 1, 2020.
