Mahoning Valley Historical Society announces its August Bites and Bits of History lunchtime program at the Tyler History Center. “Introduction to Genealogy” is the title of the free presentation at noon on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The program will be presented by local historian and genealogist Stacey Adger.
Ms. Adger’s lecture will focus on the importance of “old-fashioned leg work,” like using census directories, property and court documents, and other types of documentation. She also stresses the value of talking to the ancestors in your family; she’ll discuss why family reunions are important, the pros and cons of DNA testing, and offer advice on making sure your family tree grows and blossoms.
Ms. Adger is a trustee for the Ohio Genealogical Society, is a past president of the Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, and has given public speeches regarding her family, which has been in the Youngstown area for more than 140 years.
Bites and Bits of History lunchtime programs are sponsored by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
