Are you a history buff? Do you enjoy the excitement of healthy competition? Have a vehicle? Well, we have just the event for you! It’s time for Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Amazing History Race. This is the tenth year for the very popular event.
This scavenger-hunt-meets-road-trip will test your knowledge of local history. Meet at Tyler History Center at 5:00pm on Friday, August 9, then you and your team will begin your vehicular adventure at 5:30. Prior to setting out, you will receive a set of clues directing you to six different historic sites spread throughout the Mahoning Valley.
First one back with all of the sites correctly identified wins the coveted Amazing History Race 10 trophy. You’ll need a smart phone or digital camera to record your Race landmarks. Racers will end up back at Arms Family Museum, where MVHS staff and volunteers will check your photos. After that, stick around for a casual outdoor pizza party with soft drinks, snacks, and water provided.
The cost is $8 per person; $6 for seniors 60+ and students ages 5-13. Children age 4 and under are free.
