The 24th Annual Mad About the Arts will be held at the John J. McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University on Friday, September 27 from 7:00-10:00pm. Enjoy an evening of contemporary art, music, dance, wine tasting and food sampling at the cultural event of the season! Mad About the Arts benefits the McDonough Museum of Art, YSU’s Center for Contemporary Ideas, Art, Education, and Community and 88.5 WYSU, the Valley’s Public Radio.
Help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of WYSU with this evening of fine art, food, wine and music. In the galleries, the David Lynn Trio will perform acoustic jazz music while patrons mingle, sampling the excellent beverages, hors d’oeuvres and desserts from vendors who have specially prepared menus for Mad About the Arts. Stroll through the galleries and view three exciting exhibitions, Excavations: The Prints of Julie Mehretu, Dana Oldfather: Out of the Woods Into the Weeds and Whitney Tressel: America Still. Pick up the pace and hit the expanded dance floor on the tented McDonough patio which will feature dance music from The Sensations. The Museum features changing exhibitions, installations, performances and lectures by regional, national and international artists. It also functions as public outreach for the Cliffe College of Creative Arts and Communication and the Department of Art, exhibiting work by students, faculty and alumni.
