Library Informational Videos and Curbside Book Pickup

@guins12_publiclibraryThe Youngstown Public Library offers so much more than checking out books. Catering to both the kids or adults in the home, the library’s website offers plenty of new opportunities for learning. You can join the librarians each week for a Facebook Live featuring cooking tips, or the kids can learn how to code websites in an online class. From office skills, to accounting, to mathematics, there’s an online class available for you at their Universal Class Center. Find book chats, book clubs and story time for the kids on their Facebook page. Remember, curbside pickup is available at most library locations. Just place a hold on a book, pull up, give them a call and they’ll deliver your books right to your car.

MCMP Virtual Classroom

Visit different Mill Creek MetroParks locations and learn all about them without ever leaving the house with the Mill Creek MetroParks Virtual Classroom. You can explore many different areas of the park with Park educators. They’ll tell you stories about the cabins, show you around some of the recreational activities and facilities, and even give you the history of the golf course and its architect. After checking out the videos head outside and explore Mill Creek MetroParks and check out the locations you learned about.

Mahoning Valley Historical Society

You may not be able to visit the Historical Society’s locations and resource centers, but they are still giving you plenty of information to take in online. Students and families can learn about local history right at home through their Hands on History and Learning Kit programs. The projects vary in topics from people to places to events, and even give you some activities to do with the kids with common household items.

Visit The Butler Institute of American Art

@nicomorgione_thebutlerYou can enjoy a safe, socially distanced learning experience at The Butler. Be your own teacher as you journey through galleries filled with American art masterpieces. The museum was once referred to as a “poor man’s university” and there are plenty of “lessons” to take in. Walk through the history of America and enjoy the cultural and artistic beauty throughout the museum. Keith Wisdom: Junkanoo Inspired is a must-see exhibit on display through February 28. This exhibition springs directly from the creative essence, costumes, color and rhythm of the Bahamian national cultural festival known as Junkanoo.
