Holiday Events Not to Miss!
With December upon us, it is officially Christmas time! Here in the Mahoning Valley there are plenty of events to keep your spirits high the whole month through. So gather up the family, head on down to these great events and be ready to spread some holiday cheer!
Winter Celebration: One Man’s Dream – Celebrating 125 Years of Mill Creek Park
Mill Creek MetroPark’s annual Winter Celebration is a bit more special this year as the park is celebrating its 125th year of operation. Inside the Davis Visitors’ Center guests can see a timeline of the park’s illustrious history, complete with photos from yesteryear. Replicas of Lanterman’s Mill and the Suspension Bridge are on display for visitors to see. Come see what it took to create Mill Creek Park and how it got to where it is today!

Joy of Christmas Holiday Light Show
If Christmas lights are more your thing, the Valley has several great displays. The biggest in the area is the Joy of Christmas Holiday Light Show at Firestone Park in Columbiana. One million lights electrify the night in 70 animated light scenes. Visitors can walk through the Gingerbread House to take in hundreds of handcrafted gingerbread house displays, and then head to Santa’s Ice Castle for cookies, hot chocolate and a picture with Santa.

Admission: $8 donation per vehicle, $10 on Fridays and Saturdays
Boardman Park Holiday Light Display
If you’re in the Boardman area to do some Christmas shopping, the Boardman Park Holiday Light Display is a great place to go. Free to visit, the park features 15 elaborate light displays and their own Holiday music station to treat both your eyes and ears as you make your way through the park. Just tune to 88.9 FM to enjoy the music!

Memories of Christmas Past
The Arms Family Museum is another fantastic spot to take the family this December! Feast your eyes upon fanciful displays of woodland elves and a traditional German candle pyramid. A seven-foot tree filled with handmade beaded ornaments is a guest favorite that you won’t want to miss. On exhibit through January 8 you’ll have several chances to take the family to Memories of Christmas Past this holiday season.

* Note Construction: Wick Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Wood Street to the Madison Avenue Expressway. Local traffic will be maintained in the southbound lane from the service road at the Madison Avenue Expressway. Visitors to the Arms Family Museum can access Wick Avenue from that intersection and proceed to the museum parking lot.
