The Bremen Town Musicians

The Young Artists of Opera Western Reserve will present The Bremen Town Musicians in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium. Tickets for this event are $7, including service fees, and on sale now through the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office. The Bremen Town Musicians is a one-act opera for young audiences by John Davies. Inspired by the Grimm fairy tale, a donkey recruits three runaways (a cat, a dog, and a rooster) to form a marching band and teaches them the value of considering others’ feelings and working together. With music adapted from Gilbert and Sullivan, Donizetti, Offenbach, Rossini, and Verdi, this entertaining and educational piece is sure to provide children of all ages with a fun “day at the opera!” After the show, the cast will meet and interact with the audience. The show features stage direction by Robert Pierce. The Opera Western Reserve Young Artists travel around the tri-county area to perform at local schools. Their regular programs include “Fun with Opera,” which is an interactive performance where students help to create the scenario for a one-of-a-kind improvised opera. Tickets for The Bremen Town Musicians are available now through the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium.
